MSM isn't all bad: some are actually badass

First a disclaimer: This is not a new clip, it's several weeks old. I think it's still worth watching for several reasons:

1) It's topical. Ms. Logan has some very trenchant views on the war and it's coverage.

2) It's refreshing to see a mainstream journalist that takes her craft so seriously. Cronkite would be proud.

3) Lara Logan has a fraction of the exposure of her cable news counterparts, while deserving much more. The fact that she got the first Obama interview of his junket indicates I am not alone in this opinion. Finally,

4) The lady is just a flat-out badass. (watch her calmly describe her hotel blowing up). We need more like her.

Apologies if you've seen this before, if you haven't, it's 7 minutes well spent - enjoy.

She is good, isn't she.

Saw her interviewed a while back, I think on Larry King.

My thoughts were, her looks will be a mixed blessing: It can cause a backlash, "she got ahead by being pretty", but, we all know, especially if you are a women, you aren't getting the anchor shot unless you are pretty. (Contessa Brewer?)

It's a pretty sexist biz.

But, she will also maybe get that call, because of her looks.

I saw this interview, and I wonder if the Obama folks did it intentionally to say to the established talking heads (are you listening Andrea?) we will decide WHO get's access, not your history or so called status.

Part of the reason (I mentioned this to Linfar) that Andrea went a little Hissy the other day IMHO.

I agree on the looks being a 2-edged sword (2.00 / 1)

But I doubt they could spend much time working with her and not get past the face. 4:50 in, where she greets Marines "Yo, what's up MFers", pretty much says it all.

Oh, I think she is smart and tough, I don't think being HOT will stop her.

Hasn't hurt Angelina Jollie any?

Just saying, I think it's unfair, but as my daddy used to tell me

"Show me where it says life is fair? And, NO you can't have the car this weekend till you cut the lawn...."

One of the best interviews ever (none / 0)

Too bad their are few American Citizen journalist who have the courage to cover the war objectively.

Re: MSM isn't all bad: (none / 0)

I'm in class, so I can't listen to the audio.  As such I cannot really pass judgment on her skills or delivery.  I'll try to do that tonight.  Please understand that before reading the following:

Damn she's hot.

lol (none / 0)

But really, the audio is the best part. The lady is sharp, and deeply committed. Some of her imagery had the audience in a hush.

Re: lol (none / 0)

Who/what is CBS, I dont watch the networks so Im never up to speed.
Are they a significant news group?

She needs to get with the AP or Reuters.

Her hotness needs to be commended,  we say what we say but remember she is a reporter, not some dead doorknob anchor or weather reader.

I heartily endorse her hotness.  I'm Reaper0Bot0 and I approved this message.

I wondered about that when news of her snagging that interview came out. She did a great job on the parts of the interview that I saw.

I agree completely (none / 0)

very crisp, neutral questioning. A welcome relief from the morning show variety we see so much of.
